Emily Charmaine Coon

University of Buffalo / PILOT Intern

I am Kanien’keha:ka, wolf clan, and my family is from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory (in so-called Canada). I am a first-year PhD student in Indigenous Studies at UB. My research interests are around apocalyptic land-based learning, and how to move through disruption for more collaborative world-building. My bachelor’s degree was in psychology, and my master’s degree was in child and youth care – both programs required extensive coursework and fieldwork in statistics, analyzing qualitative data, community-based programming, and creatively disseminating/mobilizing information to a wide range of audiences (particularly Indigenous communities).
